There is really no such thing as UNLIMITED when it comes to call and text with our local network providers here in the Philippines. In fact, this has been a standard business practice worldwide.

Are you guys AWARE of the Fair Use policy of Smart, Globe, and Sun networks? Yes, there is such thing as fair use policy. In the US, it is called Acceptable Use Policy (AUP). It means that your UNLIMITED call and text are not really meant to be unlimited if you already reached the maximum call minutes and text messages. This is to control the use of the bandwidth or the usage to accommodate all the prepaid users nationwide. Unless you have a monthly plan with these network providers, you'll be prioritized and can really enjoy the UNLIMITED services.
If you're a prepaid SUN mobile user, you'll have to wait for about 15 minutes to call another Sun number for free. With Globe unlimited promos, you can call right away without waiting, but the network will stop you after consecutive opportunities of calling other Globe numbers. source |
Worst of all is Smart network. After exhausting your allowable minutes for your unlimited promo, you won't be able to call again until your promo expires. There are even times that you can no longer send a text message, because you exhausted them all by sending nonsense group messages to all your Contacts.

You don't believe me? Try to read their Fair Use Policies. You can also call their Customer Service to ask honest answers about this matter. Just mention Fair Use Policy right away, so you won't have to receive sugar-coated answers.
SMART? HERE
GLOBE? HERE
Guys, we don't have to complain about it, we just have to be AWARE of it.
Just me,

Additional info: alam nyo bang dapat ay wala naman talagang bayad ang texts? :) kasi wala namang ginagastos sa pagttransmit ng codes or whatever it is called, i forgot the exact term, pero pinag aralan namin yun sa communications bilang ECE. Ayun. kaya dapat libre lang ang texts, kaya kahit gano ka pa kasulit mag gumamit ng unli texts, basta nagbayad ka kahit piso, lugi ka. hahaha! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are correct but look at the other side. They maintain the infrastructure of this sms messaging infra and also they are paying taxes to our government, electric bills and etc. so it means subscriber cannot get it for free too..
DeleteIt should not be called unlicall or text since its bounded
DeleteMga yawa bulok na sistema hindi nyo na sana tinawag na unli call kung may limit
DeleteThank you for sharing! Now we know about fair use policy
ReplyDelete@Pao Kun: Talaga? lugi nga tayo pag ganon! hahaha

This Telcos should not use the word UNLIMITED...... its a form of DECEPTION....TEXT IS A TEXT FILE... IF YOU UNDERSTAND PROGRAMMING.......IT DOES NOT CROWD YOUR SYSTEM...
ReplyDelete"TEXT IS A TEXT FILE... IF YOU UNDERSTAND PROGRAMMING..... IT DOES NOT CROWD YOUR SYSTEM"
Delete--> considering nowadays we have more available storage but think of millions of users who will transmit that data to your infra. Think about processing power, bandwidth and etc. A 1kb size of data will still occupy or consume 1kb of memory in your system.
And also like any other system in the world they are keeping historical data of their users.
DeleteBut still the word unli means limitless the telcos shoud not use thhis word if its bounded
DeleteSo what is the "allowable minutes" for smart? They dont mention any limit on minutes, but they sure do have them.

basta mag lagay lang sila ng message na subjected sya sa fair usage policy sa mga promo . para aware mga users
First of all, nagbabayad kami ng right amount of your promo tapos ganito lang mangyayari sa services nyo? Its up to the people lang din nmn eh, kung paano nila gagamitin ang calls, hindi sana unlicall yong tawag niyo sa promo nyo.. may unlicall ba na may cut off? Are you sure? Mag cut off lang cguro yan pag dating nag expiration... kaya nga may expiration date dba kasi hanggang don lng yong possible na usage nia..? Ano ba nmn yan? Lugi nmn ata kami king gnyan... its not fair, were paying you the right amount so as an exchanged of that you should serve as your good quality service....
